Carlton Bleau was convicted in Providence in the 1990s for the 1988 rape of a woman. He has been serving a 55 year sentence and will continue to do so after the Rhode Island Supreme Court has turned down his latest appeal to overturn the case.
In Bleau’s original trial, an FBI agent who testified was found to have given misleading testimony. However, a 2002 Supreme Court ruling said that the misleading testimony was not material as there were several other witnesses who gave accurate testimonies.
