In December of 2005, Phanta “Jack” Phoummarath died due to alcohol poisoning caused by hazing of a fraternity. The fraternity, Lambda Phi Epsion has settled with the family. Three members of the fraternity were charged and each plead no contest. They were all given 2 years of deferred adjudication.
Details of the settlement have not been released. However, an educational video has been released to warn people of the dangers of hazing and binge drinking.
